Rotomoulding Applications

When it comes to manufacturing large hollow plastic parts, nothing beats the process of rotomolding. Compared to other molding or casting processes like injection or blow molding, rotomolding is exceptionally cost efficient and the products produced are also of better quality.

History of Rotomoulding

The technique of Rotomoulding was developed in USA during 1940 or 1950. Initially it was applied for the processing of a small amount of plastics and was not a very much sought after process as it was slow. However, eventually improved process control techniques were discovered that standardized the entire Rotomoulding process to a greater extent.

Association of Rotational Moulders
The Association of Rotational Moulders(ARM) was formed in Chicago in 1976, which is a worldwide trade association that is currently representing companies in 58 countries. The major and foremost goal of the association is to promote and champion rotational moulding and is actively involved in research and development. ARM is largely responsible and deals in the development and market awareness of the process.

Popularity of The Rotomoulding Process
In 1980s the rotational moulding process was in demand by larger material suppliers around the world. And to increase the demand, new materials and grades Popularity of The Rotomoulding Processbecame available in the market . Storage tanks of all sizes and shapes typically made available in the industry in various compositions. By the year 1984,rotomoulding became the process of choice for manufacturing inexpensive whitewater and sea kayaks.

Historical Origin
In somewhere between 1940 and 1950 in the USA, the rotational moulding process was developed for a small number of plastics but its popularity did not take off because it was regarded as a slow process. In the past few years, however, process control improvements and plastic powder developments have resulted in a very large increase in its use.
