Extruder Machines |
An extruder is a simple machine employed for producing long continuous products that can be cut later on, as per the desired length required. Extruder machines function by pulling out the materials through a well-shaped die in order to form continuous length of product with preset cross section. Various types of products developed from the process of extrusion include tire treads, plastic tubing, steel or copper wire, plastic sheets, and many more. Through extrusion process, you can also develop/form brittle materials.
A simple example of the extrusion machine is the baker’s pipe, which is fitted with a bag that is filled with icing and the opening has a decorative nozzle. When pressure is put in the bag, the icing comes out in a continuous length with the same shape as that of the nozzle opening. A typical extruder comprises tubular barrel, ram or plunger within barrel, revolving screw, and a hopper. You can avail various types of extruder machines such as plastic extruders, rubber extrudes, etc. from well-established manufacturers and suppliers across India.
Extruder machinery has been categorized into 3 major types:
- Single Screw
- Twin or Multiple Screw
- Ram Type.
Some of the excellent features of most extruder machines are as follows:
- Low power consumption
- Easy to operate and install
- High productivity
- Minimum requirement of manpower
- Stable operations
Applications of Extruder Machines:
In various industrial segments, these extruders are used for extruding plastic in order to process food packaging film, insulation material, cladding sheets and automotive parts. Also, tubing products such as plumbing pipes and electrical conduit are developed by employing extrusion machine. Various alloys and steel are extruded to form pipes, rods, wires and steel conduits. Further, pharmaceutical industry also uses extrusion process to produce drug carriers. You can also process/make food products like cereals, cookies, pasta, etc.
